Monday, August 26, 2002:

Together with Holly we went to Jerome, an old miners town with a lot of little shops and art stores and also a museum about the early mining business.
Late in the afternoon we left, after saying goodbye to Holly, to Sedona.

We spent the night in Hawkeye Red Rock RV Park.

Tuesday, August 27, 2002:

Sedona is well known for its "red rocks", rock formation of a special red color.
There are also a lot of art galleries.

Via Flagstaff we drove to Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument, which is not the same as Meteor Crater.
In het park there is a very pretty campground (Bonito Campground), close to the Visitor Center. We usually go to these Visitor Centers to gather some information.

On our way to Meteor Crater we visited Walnut Canyon National Monument, a steep canyon with some archeological sites.
Close to Meteor Crater there is a RV park.
The Visitor Center is really worth a long visit.

Thursday, August 29, 2002:

Before noon we visited the Homolovi Ruins State Park. Maybe an interesting site for archeologists, but not at all for us.
Late in the afternoon we arrived at the Petrified Forest National Park, but is was real cloudy and without any sun it wasn't worth to take pictures. We decided to go back to Holbrook hoping the sun was out the next day.
It was getting darker and darker. We were lucky to be at the campground (A-OK RV Park) when the thunderstorm started.
In Holbrook there are a lot of indian dances in the months Juni-August (pow-wow), but not anymore in September.

Friday, August 30, 2002:

The sun was there again and we could make some real great pictures from Painted Desert and Petrified Forest.
